El Kuento :

Aquí está la historia: Kora Karuna no es solo un proyecto musical ... es la culminación de un viaje que comenzó con un instrumento que descubrí cuando vivía en Asheville, Carolina del Norte. Cuando alquilaba una casa con amigos, hacia mil trabajos extraños y tocaba música en una serie de proyectos, pero cuando finalmente conseguí una kora me enamoré de este instrumento y no pude dejarla. El momento coincidió con la decisión de viajar al sur y explorar el continente americano en un automóvil con mi perro y mis instrumentos. Pasamos unos 3 años de esa manera viajando de país en país a través de América Central y del Sur, conociendo a mucha gente, teniendo experiencias, aprendiendo idiomas y tocando mucha música, desde presentaciones callejeras hasta grandes festivales y todo lo demás, como una especie de bohemio trovador. Finalmente, llegué a mi amado Paraguay, donde permanecí durante otros 3 años y me dediqué aún más a la kora, componiendo más canciones y construyendo muchos más instrumentos. También fundé una banda / colectivo artístico multidisciplinario llamado SomoSEreS que fue muy bien recibido.  Nos presentamos en varios lugares y festivales de alto perfil en Paraguay e incluso estuvimos de gira en Brasil. Fue durante ese período que me reuní con una chica llamada Astro, y decidimos regresar a su Colombia natal para comenzar nuestra familia. Vivimos primero en Bogotá durante un par de años y luego nos mudamos a las montañas donde vivimos ahora en Tibasosa, Boyacá. Ahora plantado firmemente en el centro del continente y en un terreno fértil para diversas colaboraciones musicales, me encontré entusiasmadamente organizando el proyecto, conectándome con artistas increíbles y también persiguiendo otras facetas del proyecto, como construir instrumentos, enseñar música y proporcionar músicoterapia a las personas. Here´s the story: Kora Karuna is not just a musical project... it's the culmination of a journey that started with an instrument I discovered when I was living in Asheville, N.C.   At the time I was renting a house with friends, working a thousand odd jobs and playing music in a number of projects, but when I finally got my hands on a kora I just fell in love with the thing and couldn't put it down.  The timing happened to coincide with a decision to travel South and explore the American continent in a car with my dog and my instruments.  We spent about 3 years that way travelling from country to country through central and south america, meeting lots of folks, having experiences, learning languages and playing lots of music, from street performances to huge festivals and everything in between, like a sort of bohemian troubadour.  Finally I made it to my beloved Paraguay where I stayed for about another 3 years and became even more dedicated to the kora, composing many more songs upon it and building lots more instruments.  I also founded a band/multidisciplinary artistic collective called SomosEres which was like the precursor to Kora Karuna and had great success, presenting in a number of high profile venues and festivals in Paraguay and even touring in Brasil!  It was during that period that I got together with a girl named Astro, and we decided to move back to her native Colombia to start our family.  We lived first in Bogota for a couple of years and then moved to the mountains where we live now in Tibasosa, Boyaca.  Now planted firmly in the center of the continent and on fertile ground for diverse musical collaborations I found myself excitedly organizing the project, connecting with incredible artists, and also pursuing other facets of the project like building instruments, teaching music, and providing music therapy to people.  Since it's creation, Kora Karuna has grown slowly but steadily to where we are today...  Here we are!  If you want to help us keep on writing this story please visit our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/korakaruna
